Greece on the gun point – Google pulls the trigger

In the wake of 24th March, 2014, around 3am EST, Google’s ‘search spam’ head, Matt Cutts appears to have confirmed that Google started taking action against spam activities in Greece of late. Somebody noticed penalties implemented on Greek websites, and notified this to Matt Cutts. In response, he tweeted “ah, you noticed the action in Greece?" Usually, Matt Cutts comes up and declares that they’ve penalized a link network of some kind in a particular nation. This time, he wasn’t very open about this, possibly because he has been occupied at TED in Vancouver, for the last couple of days.

Yes, Google has kept its promise, and is here to take actions against link networks in different countries. After penalizing popular link networks in Spain, Italy and Germany, it’s now Greek’s turn. Just four days after Google warned webmasters about its regulations on paid links and its keenness to penalize websites that breach those rules, penalties were declared by Google spokesperson outside the U.S. Later on, the news was tweeted by Matt Cutts – the senior most executive of Google’s webspam team. However, the story did not come to an end with Spain and Italy. Google is still continuing with their wrestle against link networks, on a global basis. Recently, Google’s Matt Cutts confirmed on Twitter that Greece is the present nation that’s enlisted for link network related penalties.

However, it’s still unclear or uncertain as to which SEO company or companies are accountable for the link networks which were penalized. Google has made a lot of proactive announcements, recommending webmasters, especially those with websites in target lingo's or locations, to clear out their link profiles before receiving Google penalty. In case you suspect that your website is replete with low-quality links, one can always get up and work on getting the links removed or tender a ‘give up’ file to Google to receive some respite from the possible thrash.
