A survey on mobile local searchers – All that they can expect

If you’re still not aware of the rising propagation of mobile gadgets across the planet, then you definitely live in your own wonderland. We currently live in a multi-screen planet, where people turn to different devices to locate their desired information. This is so much applicable in this age of local search, where almost 60 percent people use multiple gadgets to locate a local business. According to studies, 79 percent are mobile phone users and 81 percent are tablet users.

A mobile gadget, being more handy and accessible, has great potential to hold on to the attention of prospective customers. When you’re a business proprietor, you just cannot overlook or disregard mobile gadgets. In the last few years, Google has tracked an estimated 400% hike in searches from mobile devices, including cell phones and tablets. However, there are some unresolved queries to this – what do they look for? What do they expect from their searches? Do they eventually convert? Although the exact answer to these queries is subject to condition, let’s have an overview of the general scenario.

What people look for locally?

According to studies and investigations, there are many types of businesses which are quite popular in local search, and without much surprise, restaurants or eateries top the list.

In accordance with research:

•  Restaurants are looked for (almost) 25 percent of the time

•  Self service dealerships and establishments are searched at a rate of 10 percent

•  Entertainment and arts at 9 percent

What’s expected by the mobile searchers?

Today, a majority of the businesses have overcome the initial challenge of owning a mobile-optimized website. Rather, they feel perplexed about the content they must provide to the mobile surfers. Almost 60 percent of the smart phone users said they need information “on the go” – something that’s instantaneous and
easily comprehendible. So, it’s pretty obvious that mobile phone and tablet users don’t wish to get overwhelmed with content. However, they expect information like basic product/service details, address, charges and contact details.

Local searches – how far do they convert?

Almost 8 out of 10 searches via mobile gadgets result in a purchase, sometimes within a couple of hours. When weighed against other devices, the smart phone showed the maximum conversion rate, with almost 80 percent of searches leading to a purchase. According to experts, customers expect a constant and accessible search functionality that provides the exact level of quality and depth they require.
